Duwamish:

A Story of a River

Seattle was built on Duwamish tribal land, obtained by an unfulfilled treaty, and the Port of Seattle was carved directly into the Duwamish river. Today, the river is a superfund site, receiving governmental funding to monitor and reduce its pollution. This project was the focus of my undergrad BFA, and the snippet of it below focuses on the unseen damage from this river’s history and our cultural amnesia of it all.
